“And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.” – Revelation 13:3
This is a hard one for me personally. The Chapel teaches that the deadly wound happens to NWO in the future to one of the heads of the beast system. Satan is then cast out of heaven and comes as Antichrist to heal the wound. There are many reasons why that interpretation is wrong.
Satan being cast out of heaven does however seems to correspond with the deadly wound.
For me personally this wound could have taken place when Jesus Christ defeated death on the cross. The previous Satanic world system would have appeared vanquished because of this. Still another strong possibility could be the fall of pagan Rome…
Seventh Day Adventists will commonly teach that the deadly wound happened in 1797 when Napoleon disbanded the papacy. There are also reasons why that fails.
I am an unsettled on this issue – what do you think the beast’s deadly wound refers to?
“And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.“ – Matthew 9:43-48
Look at how many time Jesus Christ reiterates this point! Hell is a place of eternal suffering that will not be quenched! Remember how the bible repeats things three times for emphasis?
Here Jesus repeats it 5 times! But what sayeth the Chapel?
“We know man can kill our earthly bodies, but only our Father in heaven has the power to wipe out the existence of the soul… God’s emotions are so much greater than you can even imagine, and to roast one of his own children day and night would be something only Satan would conceive of.” – SOURCE: Shepherd’s Chapel, Newsletter #151
Because of teachings like this many are hell right now awaiting the lake of fire judgment.
In November of 2004, the Holy Spirit began to intensely convict me. I had just gotten a CD called “Consuming Fire” from the Chapel. In it for the first time I learned about their ideas about hell which aren’t biblical at all…
Now, I had accepted just about everything Murray had taught to this point but I had never encountered his position on annihilationism. I always assumed that it was as Jesus said it would be… eternal suffering. I didn’t know he taught this, I was shocked and couldn’t accept it because I knew in the core of my being it was wrong.
Annihilationism is the doctrine that there is no literal eternal conscious hell. God simply casts lost humanity into the lake of fire and they are burnt up and cease to exist, like “fat dripping into the fire and going up in a puff of smoke” as Murray would say.
As I listened to this message I began to realize that Murray was very wrong and this would begin an intense period of torment in my life where I would come to question everything the Chapel taught. In March of 2005, the dam broke and I rejected him and his teaching fully and profoundly as I have detailed here on the blog.
Does the bible teach that souls cease to exist once they are cast into the lake of fire or does it teach eternal conscious torment? It matters! Eternity is FOREVER!
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” – Matthew 25:46
It’s pretty clear, don’t you think?
And frankly, if you subtract this reality from your gospel presentation then really nothing is at stake anyway… you didn’t ask to exist, live like you want and when you die, it’s over. So what if you’re a wicked unbeliever, there’s no real impetus on you to believe… for many unbelievers this is simply what they expected after death anyway.
If you are a devout follower of false religion you are in danger of perdition, know this: HELL LASTS FOR ETERNITY AND YOU WILL BE CONSCIOUS OF IT – AND YOU WILL NOT LIKE IT!
JESUS CAME AND SHED HIS BLOOD TO SAVE YOU FROM THE WRATH TO COME DUE TO YOU BECAUSE OF YOUR SIN! Chapel students seem to think they are above needing God’s grace in this life because of their performance against Satan in the first earth age… BLASPHEMY!!!
It’s shouldn’t be hard to see that false teachings like this will lead a person straight to hell. And there are many false teacher awaiting judgment in Sheol today for these things. Let that thought sober you up a little!
“…and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years […] This is the first resurrection.” – Rev. 20:4
I like Dennis Murray, truly I do. It pains me to have to speak out against his ministry and it’s error. I feel bad for him because of what his father taught him. I pray that he repents for his part in this madness.
Recently he reiterated a Chapel teaching that only the 144,000 partake of the first resurrection – the rest receive a second shot at salvation in the millennium only this time it is salvation by works that saves them.
TRUTH… ALL true Christians partake in the first resurrection and that there will be NO SECOND CHANCES IN THE MILLENNIUM FOR THOSE WHO TAKE THE MARK! Nor will their be a second chance for anyone after this life:
“And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment” – Hebrew 9:27
You see, if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your savior and the blood He shed for the remission of your sins, YOU ARE ELECT. These are they that partake of the first resurrection.
The Chapel likes to define the elect as an exclusive group distinct from the body of Christ who earned their salvation and RIGHT to be the elect at the Katabole. This is insane, I lament the people caught up in it.
“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” – Revelation 20:4
Here John is seeing a vision of saints and martyrs who died or and/or overcame under the persecutions of the pagan Roman empire but the application is broader and points to the whole church age.
There are a vast multitude of saints who resist the beast’s mark and image, many to the point of martyrdom and overcome during the church era – these saints reign with Christ NOW AND THERE ARE MANY MORE THAN 144,000! Jesus Christ is ruling the nations with a rod of iron right now, the millennium is going on right now.
In fact, the group of saints that are referred to in the book of Revelation as the “144,000” can be taken to be a symbolic represensation of the church.
Coincidentally, the Chapel affirms that the elect cannot be harmed during the tribulation of antichrist (which he shortens to 2.5 months). DO YOU SEE THE INCONSISTENCY? One the one hand he is saying on the 144,000 partake in the first resurrection, then he is saying they will not be harmed in the least during the tribulation. BUT JOHN SAYS I SAW THE SOULS OF THOSE WHO WERE BEHEADED.
“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands […] And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” – Revelation 7
Friend, these partook of the first resurrection… a vast multitude. And they were so much more than simply the Anglo-Isrealite elite with gnostic knowledge (most of those will wind up receiving the mark, being slain in the judgment and going directly to hell).
If you are caught up in the false teachings I plead with you to turn from them and turn to Jesus Christ…
(Amo 5:18) Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
(Amo 5:19) As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
The book of Revelation drips with blood… if I’m reading it correctly it tells of unspeakable tragedy and judgment that will befall humanity in the end before Jesus Christ’s ultimate triumph. In fact, his return is a veritable bloodbath…
“And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.” – Revelation 14:20
Maybe this is talking about a circus, or an amusement park ride…
What I find strange indeed – Murray spoke with great zeal about the New World Order; could a man who spoke so fervently against this order really have been that ignorant about their plans for eugenics and depopulation?
And who are these people who long for the great tribulation to arrive so that they can receive their carnal vainglory?
For Murray, a period of 5 months IS the tribulation. That’s not so bad, right? He concludes that no one really dies a physical death at that time but that it is merely “spiritual” which happens by being deceived. What a relief, nothing to worry about!
The worst that can happen is that you come back during the millennium to experience a thousand years of works based religion – which is hell enough granted, but…
How does he know that?
(Rev 9:6) And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
So, dying a spiritual death from worshiping the beast and taking his mark in the tribulation is no big deal. Poor deceived souls can work their way to salvation during the millennium under the guidance and discipline of Murray and his Zadokian priesthood who will be dropping the hammer with a vengeance.
Does the scripture teach that no one will die physically during the tribulation?
Allow me to demonstrate some basic math:
(Rev 9:18) By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
Let’s say the population at the time is roughly 6 billion. Okay, divide that by three. This is 2 billion people dying in a very short period of time. What part of “KILL” do you not understand?
You know, that serpent in Genesis was fond of saying, “Did God REALLY say that?”
Did God really say that masses of humanity would literally die in persecution and judgment in the book of Revelation?
Murray likes to employ the same rhetorical devices it seems. Did God really say those people were going to literally die? Did God really say that taking the mark of the beast will land you hell?
Newsflash! Massive numbers of people will die a horrible brutish death during the judgments and tribulations spoken of in Revelation. Upwards of 2.5 billion will be slaughtered in the 6th trumpet alone in a short period of time! Not counting everything else…
That’s more people than have died in all the wars and revolutions in the history of mankind!
If you don’t think the deaths spoken of in Revelation are literal and that taking the mark won’t earn you a one way trip to hell fire, do me a favor and go flush your bible down the commode because it has become meaningless to you!
And if you think people can take the mark of the beast and die spiritually, yet come back in the millennium to earn a second chance at salvation then you my friend are dumber than a doorknob.
Premillennialism is a big lie. Probably the biggest one I will deal with here on the blog. The Lord Jesus Christ has delivered me from a lot of deceptive biblical teachings – this one takes the prize…
It sends chill down my back to say it because I know it is one of the greatest sacred cows within evangelical Christendom, and exponentially more to the Chapel…
But sacred cows make the best hamburger…
There are two basic form of premillennialism: Historic and Dispensational. The Chapel is dispensational along the same lines as Bullinger and Scofield. Due to British Isrealism, it’s version has a unique twist, as we have covered.
The Historic form was held by many within the early church but there were also a great number of Christians who believed the millennium was a present reality.
Let’s start by mentioning that premillennialism, or chiliasm was condemned by various early church council’s and lastly by the council of Ephesus in 431.
Here’s where it really gets fun. Church historian Eusebius attributes the origination of premillennialism to an arch-heretic named Cerinthius. Cerinthius was an influential gnostic around the turn of the first century. Coincidentally he emerges into the light of history around the same time Revelation was written.
Cerinthius taught that Jesus would establish a thousand-year reign of sensuous pleasure after the Second Coming but before the General Resurrection.
So we have in Cerinthius a heresiarch around the time of John that Eusebius attests to being the originator of the view of a future earthly reign of Christ…
(Jer 6:13) For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
(Jer 6:14) They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
The Chapel’s smooth words about prophecy are leading it’s students in a precarious direction…
Here’s a short video where Murray unequivocally states that the tribulation will be shortened to two 2.5 month periods, the last part is the great tribulation – this is a truncation of the 70th week down to 5 months… at first he say 9 months and corrects himself at the end…
If you’re ever studied with the Chapel for any period of time, you’ve probably come away scratching your head on more than one occasion. Let me give you a thumbnail sketch of what they’re teaching about the tribulation…
In Matthew 24 we read:
(Mat 24:21) For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
(Mat 24:22) And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
One of the first things we realize about Murray’s tribulation is that it really isn’t that bad – I mean, the 5th trumpet began in 1982 when Mt. Saint Helen’s erupted and things have been pretty good so far. The 5th trumpet began a time of teaching about the coming of the Antichrist in the 6th trumpet. So one of the chief purposes of the Chapel is to teach this special doctrine about the 6th trumpet and the advent of the devil himself.
Massive populations of people dying in judgment is a big theme in Revelation. The Chapel teaches that the deaths spoken of in Revelation are only spiritual because Satan’s powers of “deception”.
His power is so great that only Murray’s VERY elect (7,000 die hard students, called Zadok) have the capacity to completely avoid all deception. The effects of these spiritual deaths are ameliorated by the millennium of course as these poor souls receive a second chance… you see, they never really had a chance.
Another aspect of the tribulation is its overall shortening to a 5 month period spoken of in Revelation 9 – Lucifer himself will show up for the last 2.5 months or the great tribulation… and it will be like a carnival with ice cream, circuses and freak shows, no big deal. PHEW! Big relief, now I can go back to watching Bozo the Clown.
But where do we find this in scripture? Well, as with most fantasies, we don’t.
(Dan 9:27) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
According to dispensationalist’s (and Murray is one) the whole period of tribulation is known as the 70th week of Daniel. One week = 7 years. Of that 7 years half, or 42 months, is the period of great tribulation according to futurist interpretation.
I will have much to say about dispensational futurism in time — suffice to say it is completely incorrect but let continue…
Many people will die as martyrs if I read my bible correctly. It also says that, THE Antichrist, a man, not some supernatural entity will wear the people of God out for 42 months, not 2.5 months. People will be required to worship the beast under penalty of death and to take a literal mark to buy or sell… now I may be wrong, these things may apply to the whole church age or mean something else, but it’s certainly won’t be like the Chapel teaches.
There are no second chances in a future millennium if you take the mark of the beast…
The Chapel has basically created an apocalyptic amusement park for “his” elect during the 2.5 month tribulation… one where they are glorified in triumph over Antichrist and reign over all in the millennium… that’s RELIGIOUS FANTASY!
“They could tattoo 666 from your head to your feet and it would not change your feelings or mind about Christ. This is important. I hope you understand” – Arnold Murray, Newsletter #264
Arnold Murray is leading his followers to accept the real mark of the beast when it is presented to humanity during the great tribulation.
(Rev 13:16) And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Murray taught that taking the mark simply meant that the individual was deceived into false worship (the forehead) or that they served the beast (the hand). But this is another damnable LIE!
In Chapel doctrine the mark is merely spiritual. But ask yourself this question:
What kind of spiritual mark could a person receive that would make it possible to literally buy or sell during the tribulation and those who don’t have it to not be able to buy or sell?
In other words, if it simply spiritual, what’s to keep me from buying and selling during the tribulation?
It’s impossible, it can’t be done… it has to be a real mark.
The word for ‘mark’ in the greek is charagma and it means a etching, engraving, a stamp, a scratch… in other words something on the OUTSIDE of the body. Something whereby you can be identified – and if you don’t have it, you don’t buy or sell and are sentenced to death.
The word for “in” is “epi” and should be translated as upon… as it is in Revelation 20:4…
(Rev 20:4) And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
The mark is an external verifying mark of the followers of the beast. You must receive this to buy or sell… Murray is teaching his followers that they can take that mark and it wouldn’t warrant eternal condemnation. But what does the bible say?
(Rev 14:9) And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
(Rev 14:10) The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
(Rev 14:11) And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
We see here that worship of the beast and receiving the mark go together but are TWO SEPARATE ACTIONS. If one does the later (takes the mark) then the bible says they go STRAIGHT TO HELL, DON’T PASS GO, DON’T COLLECT $200.
Those who take the mark will be killed in the judgments that attend the second advent – they will NOT enter into eternity.
For Murray, taking the mark doesn’t lead eternal damnation but that these souls who take the mark (all but the 7,000 VERY ELECT will worship the beast according to him) will receive a second chance during the millennium to get things right because Satan’s powers of deception are so great that they really didn’t have a chance…
And if they fail at the end of the millennium God will only merely blot them out of existence.
The truth is, during the time of tribulation IF you receive the beast’s mark you will receive NO SECOND CHANCE in the millennium. You will be punished with everlasting, CONSCIOUS, damnation.
I want people to realize this:
The Shepherd’s Chapel through a myriad of false doctrines is priming a multitude for eternal death – this teaching concerning the mark is prime example…
