From my internet radio broadcast on 11.02.15 – Colby Braden, devout follower of Murray up until a few years ago gives an amazing testimony of deliverance and shares incredible insight into the nature of the Chapel’s deception.
We put this in-depth expose together to help liberate Chapel students from the snare of false religion… please listen and share!
An .mp3 version of the broadcast is available at the following link…
“All the great doctrines of the Christian faith were known, believed, cherished, and recorded in the stars from the earliest generations of our race, proving that God has spoken to man, and verily given him a revelation of truths and hopes precisely as written in our Scriptures, and so fondly cherished by all Christian believers” – Joseph Seiss
By that Mr. Seiss is referring to what we commonly know as the Zodiac signs, the constellations that make up the wheel of zoo animals, the circus side show for demonic freaks. You know, where we get our daily horoscope.
I’m Aries by the way. My sign according to the Gospel in the Stars somehow denotes the Crowned Lamb. I’m feeling really special right about now.
Before we get started, lets see how the new agers understand the wonderful sign of Aries…
“Every beginner in astrology knows that the conventional astrological symbol for this sign is exactly the same as the letter Upsilon in the Greek alphabet. This correspondence, moreover, leads to much else, because the Ram, or Aries, is the Lamb in Gnostic Christianity; and we shall find… that the Hebrew interpretation of this ogdoad (group of 8) of initials gives us a plain intimation that the Founder of the Rosicrucian Order is none other than this same Lamb, and it even names ‘Lamb’ by the Hebrew equivalent to one arrangement of his initials…” (The True and Invisible Rosicrucian Order, p. 40)
Consequently the Count Saint de Germain founded this order and he never dies, he’s coming to liberate humanity they say…
Ah, so the Gospel in the Stars that Murray promotes exalts and to the beast and his system? Oops I didn’t mean to bring that up, let’s put that on the shelf for later!
Didn’t mean to spoil this for you stargazers out there, let’s start again. So some would have us to believe that all sorts of wonderful biblical knowledge is locked away in pagan zodiac signs…
Really? I guess we can throw our bible away and take up astrology. But were all the great doctrines of the bible originally encoded in the stars only later to become lost? Is the pagan zodiac really just a corruption of this pure protoevangelium?
Who could ever help us crack this code and reverse engineer the pagan zodiac? Murray has some suggestions on his booklist…
The Gospel of the Stars, far from being the protoevangelium is no evangelium but rather another evangelium and therefore accursed.
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!” – Galatians 1:8 NASB
I would like to submit to you that the Gospel in the Stars is very contrary to the gospel. I acknowledge that though many well meaning people have promoted this teaching it is still nonetheless heretical and essentially antichrist.
This notion was introduced into Christendom in 1862 in a book called, Mazzaroth: or, the Constellations by a woman named Frances Rolleston. E.W. Bullinger a was a very close associate.
The basic premise is that the story of redemption was given to Adam by God. Adam and progeny encoded this story with the constellation signs. Eventually this wisdom devolved into the pagan zodiac and said wisdom became all but lost, until 1862 that is…
According to Murray and those teaching this error, the following verse is talking about the secret hidden biblical knowledge that can be extracted from the pagan zodiac…
(Psa 19:1) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
(Psa 19:2) Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
(Psa 19:3) There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
Now we will need the aid of deft religious experts to help us decrypt the pagan zodiac… where will we turn?
Really this passage is about the glory of the heavenlies that God created in and of themselves. It is not making any reference to secret knowledge hidden in the pagan zodiac.
So that is the basic assertion – the story of redemption was originally given to Adam, who then because paper was lacking encoded this information within the stars which later became paganized. The reality is the pagan zodiac was always pagan and godless and never had a hint of truth in it…
E.W. Bullinger, God rest his Anglican soul, embellished Rolleston’s teaching with a book of his own to help popularize this whopper. Coincidentally, theologians of the 19th century must have really been bored – they didn’t have T.V. so they had to invent their own religious fantasies.
It must have tickled Murray’s heretical sensibilities to no end when he discovered the Gospel in the Stars. I used to own the book by E. Raymond Capt. that Murray endorses…
Where Did the Zodiac Constellation Signs Originate?
The truth is the Zodiac is explicitly condemned by the bible. It is at the heart of Babylonian mystery religion and sun worship.
It was invented at the tower of Babel and was part of the initial mystery religion. The tower of Babel itself was an observatory and was created to help facilitate this system of false worship.
When God scattered the people at Babel the people took this religion with them and started new civilizations based on the same general outline – like Egypt for instance.
The Israelites, too, were enamored with Babylonian mystery religion due to the influence of surrounding cultures…
“This is that Moses…to whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and IN THEIR HEARTS TURNED BACK AGAIN INTO EGYPT… And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifices unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the HOST OF HEAVEN: as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to Me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of FORTY YEARS IN THE WILDERNESS? Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the STAR OF YOUR GOD REMPHAN, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.” – Acts 7:37-43
The system of false worship initiated at the tower of Babel is the reason why all the curses of destruction pronounced in Deuteronomy came upon the Jews during the Babylonian captivity.
It reeks of ‘666’. In fact the number ‘666’ derives directly from sun worship and the zodiac. The sun passed through each house of the zodiac per day; each house has 3 rooms for a total of 36 rooms – this is where the magical square of the sun comes from and where we get the number ‘666’.
(Zep 1:4) I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;
(Zep 1:5) And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;
So the Israelites were punished for worshipping God and Baal. This is the direction Murray and others are leading people by advocating the “Gospel in the Stars” which is no more biblical than the moon being made of Swiss cheese.
The wheel of zoo animals IS the host of heaven… there’s a gospel in there somewhere? Sure there is. Fact is these characters in the zodiac represent demon gods. And you want to reconcile this idolatry with the story of redemption?
(Deu 5:7) Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
(Deu 5:8) Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
(Deu 5:9) Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
But you say, “it preaches real good, brother Tim, real good…” – indeed it does, my friend, indeed it does. Like hot pig slop in a bucket. And we’re about to have a real hog-slopping good time.
(Deu 4:19) And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
This is what the pagans and the Israelites did…
And that is what the zodiac is – a wheel of zoo animals, a system of sun based false worship… a circus side show for demonic freaks…but hey, I got an idea, let’s Christianize it – because Lord knows, if you take any demonic swill you can find and dress it up in Christian terminology Lord knows what kind of boon you’ll strike.
That’s what Rolleston, Seiss, Murray, Capt, Bullinger and those like them promoted…
A Christianized version of pagan idolatry. Kind of looks like something a Romanist would do. It origins were in hell – not some mythical protoevangelion. You know what they say about putting lipstick on a pig?
The pagan zodiac is the pig… the Gospel in the Stars is the lipstick – have fun with that and let me know how it works out for you.
Most people are not aware that in 1978 Arnold Murray published a bible with commentary called the Shepherd’s Bible. He never finished or published it on a large scale. It was basically an expansion of all the pet doctrines of Christian identity with a few twists and new additions, repackaged for mass consumption.
So successful was the system early on that Murray chose a different route than that of a study bible. Murray decided to leave off finishing that work and base a teaching ministry around it.
In the early 1980’s he invested a large amount of money to initiate a satellite ministry which featured the teaching’s encapsulated in the study bible.
In this article I’m going to present Ephesians chapter 2 from that study bible and have a look at some of his notes. His remarks on the text are in blue, my response in red. One thing we will realize is that Murray’s system didn’t change at all over the years. He found a successful system of false religion and ran with it…
Shepherds Bible. Ephesians Chapter 2
vs. 1 – And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
** Or, He quickened your mind. Those that stood loyal to Yahveh during the spiritual battle in the world-that-was are born of woman in this world-that-is, without conscious memory of what went before. But these things are caller to your remembrance by people such as myself and other students that teach and reach you because you were chosen before the foundations of the world. We simply call them to your mind.
+ Out the gate notice what Arnold Murray does. Clearly verse one is talking about salvation, regeneration and redemption of sin for all mankind. AM says being quickened has to do with cognizance of what took place in the first earth age by a small group. He equates salvation with this “special insight” into the world that was. In the AM system salvation for “the elect” in this age is earned by past life loyalty in the Katabole. The other “gentiles” come into grace via free will. What he is teaching is pure false religion and heresy.
vs. 2 – Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
** In other words, in times past, you went along with the crowd and you were obeying Satan. Now understand. Up till now Paul has been talking about salvation and redemption through Christ’s blood that was shed for us on the cross. Now here Paul speaks of the prince of the power of the air.
He’s talking about the one that’s going to come back saying he is the Christ. II Thessalonians stipulates that this one, the protecting cherub or Satan, will come back before Jesus, the legitimate Christ, returns. So you see the importance of knowing who you are, who the false Christ is, and which Christ will be the Savior. These things fall into place and come to mind for the elect.
+ The infinite vainglory of man. In the AM system the focus is on the antichrist, great tribulation, Satan and the triumph and exaltation of the “elect”, a small group of people whom Murray has conveniently defined as those who can understand his teaching. The bible teaches that ALL the saints, the redeemed of jew and gentile are the elect.
vs. 3 – Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
** In other words, we were born into this world in ignorance, so that every soul would have a choice, either here or in the millennium. That’s why this world is. It is so all His children that were led astray would have a chance again to love Him from their own heart. You will if your of the elect choose Him now in this world. Or, you will be taught YHVH’s full truth during the millennium and make your choice then. For those who refuse to accept Jesus Christ in the millennium, it’s good-bye.
+ In the AM system everyone receives a second chance in the millennium. And this world is here now because of what happened in the first earth age? RELIGIOUS MADNESS! Murray also equates loving God with salvation – that the sinners love for God is what saves him. This is heresy as well.
vs. 4 – But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith He loved us,
** Because of His mercy, they’re going to know the whole truth. He loved His children, even before this world, and He doesn’t want to destroy any of them.
+ This is more vainglory and delusion. When he says they are going to know the truth he is referring to millennium where deluded chaps will have truth drilled into their heads. But Murray is arrogantly referring to truth as he conceives it. An allusion to the false doctrine of annihilationism is made here as well. God, because of his mercy won’t send anyone to an eternal hell and will give everyone a second chance in the Murray millennial bootcamp.
vs. 5 – Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
** He quickened us how? By letting us know who we are. The greatest gift is knowing who you are and who the children of Lucifer, the Kenites are. Whereby you will know when and where the false Christ will appear. By the grace of Jesus Christ you are saved.
+ This passage is talking about the regeneration that takes place when a sinners transgressions are washed away. Murray reframes it into salvation via discovering who we are. And who is going to teach us that? Murray, that’s who. We are saved by grace through gnostic insight into who the Kenites are, who the elect are and when the false christ appears…
vs. 6 – And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
** Or, He raised us to a higher level of thinking. To a higher level of knowledge whereby we would know where and when these things would happen, so that we would not be deceived.
+ And Murray is going to reveal this higher level of knowledge to us – the knowledge of the correct sequence of end time events for the purpose of not being deceived.
vs. 7 – That in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
** Many people don’t realize the scope of His love that is evidenced by the millennium. If there were, not to he a millennium, no one other than the elect would have an opportunity. The purpose of the millennium, during which it is your destiny to teach, is to give His full truth to those who have been misled. You shall teach and love and guide His people.
+ He turns this into more tripe about his false millennium. The age to come is talking about the eternal state, not the millennium.
vs. 8 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
** What does that word faith really mean? In the Greek, it means divine influence on the heart. It isn’t a thing totally of your choice. God brings this divine influence and touches your heart because of your loyalty be fore the foundations of this world. Now understand this, because it clarifies the meaning of grace.
This is not the gift of man. It takes the divine influence of the Spirit to bring about the salvation of the elect. This word is addressed to the elect, or “saints”, to those of His people (Israel) who were led astray by Lucifer and to the ethnos. This is the reason some scholars have trouble with this.
+ Faith presupposes free-will and faith is also equivalent to repentance. Murray alleviates his hearers from the necessity of belief and repentance for salvation. God magically influences them because of their performance in the first earth age rebellion.
Murray talks about teaching on different levels and we see example of it here. That’s just a clever way Murray can have the text mean one absurdity and another absurdity that totally contradicts the first one. He will resort to any kind of lie and device to make the scripture say whatever he needs it to.
vs. 9 – Not of works, lest any man should boost.
** Now this says you are not saved by your good deeds, yet this is what most churches in our day teach. But what does the Word say? We were just told man can’t take any credit but that it is divine influence that saves. Now remember we are talking about this age and salvation prior to the millennium.
In that dispensation, it shall be different but this is addressed to those of the elect that are here on earth now. Let us keep our times and people straight and then it becomes clear and simpler to understand. You do understand if you are elect and you follow Christ your deeds could be none other than good. The point is these works are not your salvation.
+ What church teaches salvation by works? A cult? Most christian churches do not teach that. Murray teaches that man is saved by works in the millennium and that the elect receive divine influence due to first earth age performance. His gospel is a gospel of works through and through.
vs. 10 – For we are His workmanship, created, in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
** You should be able to see there is no choice involved here. God “before ordained” and “unto good works” refers to the fact that you should help His people. He hasn’t chosen you because you are something special. He chose you because you were loyal in that pre-foundation spiritual battle, and it is His purpose that you shall help the rest and lead them.
+ That is a complete butchering of the meaning of that text. And how should those who are ordained demonstrate good works? By spreading Murray’s teaching to all who will listen. To Murray, those are the good works “His people” have been ordained to.
vs. 11 – Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
** Understand this is talking of the lost sheep of Israel and also to the physical ethnos, which means races other than your Nordic, Anglo-Saxon Adamic people.
+ It doesn’t take long for the racist Anglo-Israelist to rear it’s ugly head. See how condescending it is. The “gentiles” are poor saps who are not genetically similar to the British Israelists. Murray’s thinks he’s a Hebrew you see. The reality is that Murray is as gentile as he can be.
vs. 12 – That at this time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, find without God in the world:
** In other words, you didn’t have a chance or a prayer. You had no adoption into Israel. You had nothing. You were Gentiles. All the covenants of the Old Testament were made to Israel. For the deeper students, I add that I realize God made a covenant with the city of Jerusalem, also a covenant with the Kenites that they should never want for a man to lead them but here I’m speaking of the old powerful covenants made with the nation, Israel.
So you understand that Christ is the only door for the ethnos, for the Gentiles. He is the only door for you. He is the only door for everyone. Even the Kenites because He is the fulfillment of the covenant.
+ Sounds like the dual covenant theory for bigoted british-israelists. The gentiles are saved by grace through their free will and the elect (all of whom are Israel of the flesh) are saved by divine persuasion because of how good they were in the age that was.
vs. 13, 14 – But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are mode nigh by the blood of Christ. For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
** With His blood, He broke down the middle wall, whereby the ethnos (nations in the Greek, Rev. 21:24-25) if they accept Jesus Christ shall live in their own kingdom with their own rulers or kings and queens. These terms are used in the earthly sense. They shall of course be in YHVH’s kingdom and Jesus Christ shall be the King of kings. This middle wall of partition also means the present division of beliefs. Those who accept Jesus Christ shall be in unison, understanding the full truth at that time.
+ No, those who accept Christ are in unison now. They don’t need to wait for Murray’s teaching in the millennium. He makes an artificial partition wall.
vs. 15 – Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
** What ordinances are we talking about? The blood of Christ replaced the blood ordinance. Now for you students who think that He did away with the law, you had better re-read the 5th chapter of Matthew where it says, He didn’t even change a tittle – the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet – of the law. It speaks here specifically of the blood sacrifice tying together His total plan of salvation… fulfilling both the Old and the New Testament and bringing salvation to the entire world for all those that would choose it.
vs. 16 – And that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
** You call it the body of Christ, the church, Christianity. Call it whatever you want but it’s Jesus Christ. It’s His body, His blood: through Him, the temple is made. It’s not made with hands.
vs. 17 – And come and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
** Those that were far off, or were not included in the covenants. And those that were nigh, or Israel, His people.
+ Murray teaches British Israelism. He doesn’t believe that he was at one time far off since he believe that he is part of Israel. Reality, Murray is a gentile.
vs. 18 – For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
** Christ is the only door to the Father is what it is saying.
+ Shepherd’s Chapel teaches modalism, that Christ is an office – the same person as God the father.
vs. 19 – Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
** Saints used here again means the pure and holy, or the elect in relationship to the Gentiles. You are in a sense the saints of the Gentiles, in fulfilling that promise made to Abraham that he would be a blessing to all nations. You shall be the teachers of that blessing which is the truth. The word fellow-citizen in the Greek means a fellow Christian or one of the same belief and not necessarily of the same race or color.
+ The saints, the elect are ALL christians both JEW and gentile. It’s simply an elitist, arrogant theology.
vs. 20 – And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone;
** Note both the apostles and the prophets speak of Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone, again tying together both the New and the Old Testament.
+ The prophets spoken of here are the new testament prophets of the early church, the importance of whom he excludes. It is not referring to the OT prophets but rather the NT ones.
vs. 21 – In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
** In other words, it’s the full cycle… the whole building, the whole foundation, and we see the beauty of His salvation unto the whole world including the saints and including the Gentiles.
+ Gentile christians are saints. Murray’s definition of a saint are the 144,000 that believe as he teaches.
vs. 22 – In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
** Or, the Gentiles, whom I’m teaching, are a part of this, is what he is saying.
In Chapel theology gentile Christians are almost subhuman. He asserts that they are not chosen. The bible says they are. Murray has invented his own religion.
The Chapel teaches that we must be “born from above” and insists that usage of the term “born again” is a bastardization of the text, but what do they mean?
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” – John 3:3-7
In this passage Jesus is teaching about the rebirth or regeneration but the Chapel makes this about their own fantasy about being born into this age. This passage in John can be seen from another angle in Titus…
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” – Titus 3:5
Salvation is by Grace alone through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone – but for the Chapel the individual must agree to be born into the flesh or be condemned for his part in the first earth age!
Being born in the flesh wipes the slate clean from the first earth age. The non-elect then get to exercise their free will in order to be saved. The 144,000 are justified due to their performance in the first earth age.
You see, to the Chapel we all have a rich pre-history on earth in the world that was. Because of the terrible repercussions of cataclysmic rebellion against God – all souls must be born of woman via the “waters” of the birth canal into this earth age to undergo testing. That was the deal. God is merciful and he will clean their slate if they are born into the flesh in this age.
If a soul refuses this process then they will be condemned immediately for their sins in the world that was – hence, Satan, or the ‘son of perdition’… the only one who refused incarnation into this age.
See how the Chapel uses imaginary events and to guilt people into buying the delusions? I mean who could endure the thought that they betrayed God in the first earth age? Obviously no one who listens to the Chapel. That’s why there are tens of millions of gullible people around the world who believe they are one of the 144,000.
Do you not perceive the wicked hellishness of man-made religion?
Incidentally: Satan is not the son of perdition. There are two “sons of perdition” in scripture, Judas is the one spoken of in John. The little horn is the other.
The Chapel teaches that the little horn is the devil himself de facto, this is false.
The angels of heaven are really just humans waiting to be born on this physical plane. The Chapel teaches that Satan is the son of perdition because he refused to be born in the flesh. Yeah right!
As we can see, The Chapel have invented their own religion and borrowed elements from every manner of diabolical cult — so much of what we see here about pre-existence seems to be lifted directly from Mormon theology.
In this crazed form of religion being born “from above” is some quasi-mystical religious experience that overtakes the minds of those given over to strong delusion, kind of like a gnostic experience. Or to quote the doctor himself…
“When you were begotten from above, you felt that touch. You knew it was true.” – Arnold Murray
What, you knew what was true? When a person is born again there is a conviction of sin, repentance and an acknowledgement of what Jesus Christ has done on our behalf. The Chapel’s doctrine of rebirth focuses on the individuals self-importance.
“Understand that there are three offices of the Godhead. Like this little lady said. She said, ‘To my husband I am a wife, to my children I am a mother, that’s my office. To hundreds of third graders I am their teacher and have been down through the years. That’s a different office; none of them the same, but I’m still the same person.” – (The Shepherd’s Chapel, broadcast June 4, 1991)
This definition of the Godhead is textbook heresy. That God is not the God of the bible but it is a very popular one. Anyone who holds to such teachings and propagates them will surely answer to God. It is all the proof that you need that this person is not of God.
From Wikipedia on the ancient Sabellian heresy:
“In Christianity, Sabellianism (also known as modalism, modalistic monarchianism, or modal monarchism) is the nontrinitarian or anti-trinitarian belief that the Heavenly Father, Resurrected Son, and Holy Spirit are three different modes or aspects of one monadic God, as perceived by the believer, rather than three distinct persons within the Godhead – that there are no real or substantial differences between the three, such that there is no substantial identity for the Spirit or the Son. The term Sabellianism comes from Sabellius, who was a theologian and priest from the 3rd century.”
Where there is smoke, there’s fire. Though the Chapel gives lip service to the doctrine of the Trinity their own definition of the Godhead betrays them.
This was the first false doctrine that Jesus Christ blew the lid off of in 2004… after this I began to see a tidal wave of erroneous teaching that I had been led to believe as truth…
Interesting side note, Murray will often say that God created everything because He was consumed with His own loneliness… really? That is an understandable conclusion for someone who teaches modalism… but I can assure you loneliness was not the reason God created everything.
In the Trinitarian Godhead there is an eternal inter-relating of persons; in the modalistic conception there is only one person and no inter-relating. Easy for Murray to imagine God being lonely.
In late 2004 I ordered a tape set from Reformed theologian R.C. Sproul on the Holy Spirit. It was the first time I heard a clear scriptural exposition of the Godhead – something that Murray had never done.
In Spring of 2005 when I was busting loose from the chapel I realized that Murray was teaching the modalistic heresy – this is when the war began, it was knives out against the Chapel from this point… I rejected him as thoroughly satanic at that point and realized I had been deceived.
The modalistic heresy, or Sabellian heresy asserts that there is one person God, in three successive, modes, states, forms or offices. And this is certainly what Murray teaches. But what does the scripture say about this?
“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” – Ephesians 5:11
In 2005 the Lord Jesus Christ delivered me from the Shepherd’s Chapel web of false doctrines. Since that time I have been reaching out to others caught up in this. Jesus Christ shed his blood to forgive of us from the sin of religious idolatry, partaking of and spreading false teaching. When the Lord convicted me for my involvement with the Chapel I became very ashamed for the people I had led astray and sought to reach out and warn them…
There are others who have similar experiences where the Holy Spirit led them to reject the Chapel. Reader JohnyC is the latest to put forth his exhortation… he notes how the Chapel twists the doctrine of the resurrection and gives a special warning at the end,
I started to listen to Murray back in 1994. I used to love the Shepherd’s Chapel because he read the bible verse by verse. But what continually bothered me… it never failed, he would always gravitate back to attacking the “Kenites” and pushing other of his pet doctrines.
His teachings resembled more of the Pharisee’s mentality with so much emphasis on the flesh and genealogy. He was always twisting everything to fit the Christian Identity cult mentality.
Now I know the truth, the New Covenant is unlike the Old. While the Old Covenant was all about following rules and sacrifices, the New covenant is about the spirit and faith.
I hate how he twisted Corinthians 5:8 where it says, “…we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord…” with something like, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord at the moment of death” Paul uses clothing imagery to describe our bodies. We currently wear a mortal body, but in God’s presence at the resurrection we “must put on” an immortal one.
All I have to say if you are a Shepherd’s Chapel follower and you have a feeling that their teachings do not match with the scripture, listen to that inner voice because it is the Holy Spirit trying to save you from their web of lies.
“A single witness shall not rise up against a man on account of any iniquity or any sin which he has committed; on the evidence of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed.” – Deuteronomy 19:15
The following is reader testimony from ServantOfChrist2014, she has a blog exposing some of the key errors of the Chapel and also shares her testimony of deliverance…
Hey, ex-murray “follower” here. I just want to say that I am so so glad the Holy Spirit led me out of this completely blasphemous so called church. I was misled mostly by the idea that we were a special group that knew the real truth and we were of the few who “got it”. It felt good to be a part of a family of like minded people, that’s what ultimately appealed to me. But as time went on, I grew more and more confused by the heretical and disgustingly false teachings of Murray.
I was a member of various social media groups who identified themselves as “Shepherd’s Chapel students” for about four years. But something always gnawed at me and I felt like I was dumb and couldn’t possibly come to the knowledge of the “Truth” Murray taught. Particularly the serpent seed doctrine and how Murray claimed Satan had sex with Eve in the garden and that Cain and Abel were twins. No matter how many times I tried to study their way and understand how they got that out of Genesis, I just couldn’t be convinced.
Furthermore, I wrestled with the idea of a sect called the Kenites that were supposedly a race of people directly descended from Cain (& Satan) that were alive and well today and are the ones responsible for much of the tumult in the middle east. Looking back all this is totally laughable. I mean downright hilarious now that I have repented and have been brought out of that mess.
But what really bothered me is that Murray subtly taught a form of racism through his Christian identity teachings. After getting into some very heated debates on social media with other followers, I was told I was biblically illiterate, a babe in the word and that was the cause of my “unbelief”.
They became hostile when I dared question why they kept parroting Murray’s every word all the time. And ultimately completely turned me off to being part of their so called “Christian” group. If you ever have a chance and want to see what I mean, get on Facebook and find one of their groups and argue just one small teaching and see how hateful and downright rude and obnoxious these people are!
Anyways, please, if you are following this false church, I pray you leave immediately! Think about it, do your research on your own and NEVER ignore the small voice that keeps telling you something is wrong! It took me four years to listen. I can’t get those years back, but oh what a valuable lesson God taught me. You must never ever trust anyone’s word over the Bible and the Holy Spirit’s guidance! Is it really worth going to eternal hell for?
