Most Comforting LIE: The Denial of an Eternal Hell

Hellfire

“And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.Matthew 9:43-48

Look at how many time Jesus Christ reiterates this point! Hell is a place of eternal suffering that will not be quenched! Remember how the bible repeats things three times for emphasis?

Here Jesus repeats it 5 times! But what sayeth the Chapel?

“We know man can kill our earthly bodies, but only our Father in heaven has the power to wipe out the existence of the soul… God’s emotions are so much greater than you can even imagine, and to roast one of his own children day and night would be something only Satan would conceive of.” – SOURCE: Shepherd’s Chapel, Newsletter #151

Because of teachings like this many are hell right now awaiting the lake of fire judgment.

In November of 2004, the Holy Spirit began to intensely convict me. I had just gotten a CD called “Consuming Fire” from the Chapel. In it for the first time I learned about their ideas about hell which aren’t biblical at all…

Now, I had accepted just about everything Murray had taught to this point but I had never encountered his position on annihilationism. I always assumed that it was as Jesus said it would be… eternal suffering. I didn’t know he taught this, I was shocked and couldn’t accept it because I knew in the core of my being it was wrong.

Annihilationism is the doctrine that there is no literal eternal conscious hell. God simply casts lost humanity into the lake of fire and they are burnt up and cease to exist, like “fat dripping into the fire and going up in a puff of smoke” as Murray would say.

As I listened to this message I began to realize that Murray was very wrong and this would begin an intense period of torment in my life where I would come to question everything the Chapel taught. In March of 2005, the dam broke and I rejected him and his teaching fully and profoundly as I have detailed here on the blog.

Does the bible teach that souls cease to exist once they are cast into the lake of fire or does it teach eternal conscious torment? It matters! Eternity is FOREVER!

“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” – Matthew 25:46

It’s pretty clear, don’t you think?

And frankly, if you subtract this reality from your gospel presentation then really nothing is at stake anyway… you didn’t ask to exist, live like you want and when you die, it’s over. So what if you’re a wicked unbeliever, there’s no real impetus on you to believe… for many unbelievers this is simply what they expected after death anyway.

If you are a devout follower of false religion you are in danger of perdition, know this: HELL LASTS FOR ETERNITY AND YOU WILL BE CONSCIOUS OF IT – AND YOU WILL NOT LIKE IT!

JESUS CAME AND SHED HIS BLOOD TO SAVE YOU FROM THE WRATH TO COME DUE TO YOU BECAUSE OF YOUR SIN! Chapel students seem to think they are above needing God’s grace in this life because of their performance against Satan in the first earth age… BLASPHEMY!!!

It’s shouldn’t be hard to see that false teachings like this will lead a person straight to hell. And there are many false teacher awaiting judgment in Sheol today for these things. Let that thought sober you up a little!

‘Born From Above’ – Murray’s False Doctrine of Rebirth

'Born from Above' means being born in the flesh...
According to the Chapel ‘born from above’ in part means being born in the flesh from previous earth age…

The Chapel teaches that we must be “born from above” and insists that usage of the term “born again” is a bastardization of the text, but what do they mean?

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” – John 3:3-7

In this passage Jesus is teaching about the rebirth or regeneration but the Chapel makes this about their own fantasy about being born into this age. This passage in John can be seen from another angle in Titus…

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” – Titus 3:5

Salvation is by Grace alone through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone – but for the Chapel the individual must agree to be born into the flesh or be condemned for his part in the first earth age!

Being born in the flesh wipes the slate clean from the first earth age. The non-elect then get to exercise their free will in order to be saved. The 144,000 are justified due to their performance in the first earth age.

You see, to the Chapel we all have a rich pre-history on earth in the world that was. Because of the terrible repercussions of cataclysmic rebellion against God – all souls must be born of woman via the “waters” of the birth canal into this earth age to undergo testing. That was the deal. God is merciful and he will clean their slate if they are born into the flesh in this age.

If a soul refuses this process then they will be condemned immediately for their sins in the world that was – hence, Satan, or the ‘son of perdition’… the only one who refused incarnation into this age.

See how the Chapel uses imaginary events and to guilt people into buying the delusions? I mean who could endure the thought that they betrayed God in the first earth age? Obviously no one who listens to the Chapel. That’s why there are tens of millions of gullible people around the world who believe they are one of the 144,000.

Do you not perceive the wicked hellishness of man-made religion?

Incidentally: Satan is not the son of perdition. There are two “sons of perdition” in scripture, Judas is the one spoken of in John. The little horn is the other.

The Chapel teaches that the little horn is the devil himself de facto, this is false.

The angels of heaven are really just humans waiting to be born on this physical plane. The Chapel teaches that Satan is the son of perdition because he refused to be born in the flesh. Yeah right!

As we can see, The Chapel have invented their own religion and borrowed elements from every manner of diabolical cult — so much of what we see here about pre-existence seems to be lifted directly from Mormon theology.

In this crazed form of religion being born “from above” is some quasi-mystical religious experience that overtakes the minds of those given over to strong delusion, kind of like a gnostic experience. Or to quote the doctor himself…

“When you were begotten from above, you felt that touch. You knew it was true.” – Arnold Murray

What, you knew what was true? When a person is born again there is a conviction of sin, repentance and an acknowledgement of what Jesus Christ has done on our behalf. The Chapel’s doctrine of rebirth focuses on the individuals self-importance.

A One Person Godhead? Modalism or Sabellian Heresy

One person Godhead with three offices = modalism...

Understand that there are three offices of the Godhead. Like this little lady said. She said, ‘To my husband I am a wife, to my children I am a mother, that’s my office. To hundreds of third graders I am their teacher and have been down through the years. That’s a different office; none of them the same, but I’m still the same person.” – (The Shepherd’s Chapel, broadcast June 4, 1991)

This definition of the Godhead is textbook heresy. That God is not the God of the bible but it is a very popular one. Anyone who holds to such teachings and propagates them will surely answer to God. It is all the proof that you need that this person is not of God.

From Wikipedia on the ancient Sabellian heresy:

“In Christianity, Sabellianism (also known as modalism, modalistic monarchianism, or modal monarchism) is the nontrinitarian or anti-trinitarian belief that the Heavenly Father, Resurrected Son, and Holy Spirit are three different modes or aspects of one monadic God, as perceived by the believer, rather than three distinct persons within the Godhead – that there are no real or substantial differences between the three, such that there is no substantial identity for the Spirit or the Son. The term Sabellianism comes from Sabellius, who was a theologian and priest from the 3rd century.”

Where there is smoke, there’s fire. Though the Chapel gives lip service to the doctrine of the Trinity their own definition of the Godhead betrays them.

This was the first false doctrine that Jesus Christ blew the lid off of in 2004… after this I began to see a tidal wave of erroneous teaching that I had been led to believe as truth…

Interesting side note, Murray will often say that God created everything because He was consumed with His own loneliness… really? That is an understandable conclusion for someone who teaches modalism… but I can assure you loneliness was not the reason God created everything.

In the Trinitarian Godhead there is an eternal inter-relating of persons; in the modalistic conception there is only one person and no inter-relating. Easy for Murray to imagine God being lonely.

In late 2004 I ordered a tape set from Reformed theologian R.C. Sproul on the Holy Spirit. It was the first time I heard a clear scriptural exposition of the Godhead – something that Murray had never done.

In Spring of 2005 when I was busting loose from the chapel I realized that Murray was teaching the modalistic heresy – this is when the war began, it was knives out against the Chapel from this point… I rejected him as thoroughly satanic at that point and realized I had been deceived.

For Murray, there is only one person in the Godhead...

The modalistic heresy, or Sabellian heresy asserts that there is one person God, in three successive, modes, states, forms or offices. And this is certainly what Murray teaches. But what does the scripture say about this?
