Reader Exhortation from JohnyC about the Shepherd’s Chapel

“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” – Ephesians 5:11

In 2005 the Lord Jesus Christ delivered me from the Shepherd’s Chapel web of false doctrines. Since that time I have been reaching out to others caught up in this. Jesus Christ shed his blood to forgive of us from the sin of religious idolatry, partaking of and spreading false teaching. When the Lord convicted me for my involvement with the Chapel I became very ashamed for the people I had led astray and sought to reach out and warn them…

There are others who have similar experiences where the Holy Spirit led them to reject the Chapel. Reader JohnyC is the latest to put forth his exhortation… he notes how the Chapel twists the doctrine of the resurrection and gives a special warning at the end,

I started to listen to Murray back in 1994. I used to love the Shepherd’s Chapel because he read the bible verse by verse. But what continually bothered me… it never failed, he would always gravitate back to attacking the “Kenites” and pushing other of his pet doctrines.

His teachings resembled more of the Pharisee’s mentality with so much emphasis on the flesh and genealogy. He was always twisting everything to fit the Christian Identity cult mentality.

Now I know the truth, the New Covenant is unlike the Old. While the Old Covenant was all about following rules and sacrifices, the New covenant is about the spirit and faith.

I hate how he twisted Corinthians 5:8 where it says, “…we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord…” with something like, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord at the moment of death” Paul uses clothing imagery to describe our bodies. We currently wear a mortal body, but in God’s presence at the resurrection we “must put on” an immortal one.

All I have to say if you are a Shepherd’s Chapel follower and you have a feeling that their teachings do not match with the scripture, listen to that inner voice because it is the Holy Spirit trying to save you from their web of lies.

Testimony of Former Chapel Student – ServantOfChrist2014

“A single witness shall not rise up against a man on account of any iniquity or any sin which he has committed; on the evidence of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed.” – Deuteronomy 19:15

The following is reader testimony from ServantOfChrist2014, she has a blog exposing some of the key errors of the Chapel and also shares her testimony of deliverance…

Hey, ex-murray “follower” here. I just want to say that I am so so glad the Holy Spirit led me out of this completely blasphemous so called church. I was misled mostly by the idea that we were a special group that knew the real truth and we were of the few who “got it”. It felt good to be a part of a family of like minded people, that’s what ultimately appealed to me. But as time went on, I grew more and more confused by the heretical and disgustingly false teachings of Murray.

I was a member of various social media groups who identified themselves as “Shepherd’s Chapel students” for about four years. But something always gnawed at me and I felt like I was dumb and couldn’t possibly come to the knowledge of the “Truth” Murray taught. Particularly the serpent seed doctrine and how Murray claimed Satan had sex with Eve in the garden and that Cain and Abel were twins. No matter how many times I tried to study their way and understand how they got that out of Genesis, I just couldn’t be convinced.

Furthermore, I wrestled with the idea of a sect called the Kenites that were supposedly a race of people directly descended from Cain (& Satan) that were alive and well today and are the ones responsible for much of the tumult in the middle east. Looking back all this is totally laughable. I mean downright hilarious now that I have repented and have been brought out of that mess.

But what really bothered me is that Murray subtly taught a form of racism through his Christian identity teachings. After getting into some very heated debates on social media with other followers, I was told I was biblically illiterate, a babe in the word and that was the cause of my “unbelief”.

They became hostile when I dared question why they kept parroting Murray’s every word all the time. And ultimately completely turned me off to being part of their so called “Christian” group. If you ever have a chance and want to see what I mean, get on Facebook and find one of their groups and argue just one small teaching and see how hateful and downright rude and obnoxious these people are!

Anyways, please, if you are following this false church, I pray you leave immediately! Think about it, do your research on your own and NEVER ignore the small voice that keeps telling you something is wrong! It took me four years to listen. I can’t get those years back, but oh what a valuable lesson God taught me. You must never ever trust anyone’s word over the Bible and the Holy Spirit’s guidance! Is it really worth going to eternal hell for?

The Church IS the Promised Kingdom!

hqdefault

“The visible church, which is also catholic or universal under the gospel … is the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ” -The Westminster Confession of Faith 25:2

In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.” – Daniel 2:44

The New Testament Church, the body of Jesus Christ IS the promised kingdom of the Old Testament. I become very irritated with false religion as it seeks to usurp the promises that apply to God’s true people, the elect…

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” – Colossians 2:8

That word “spoil” is ROB. That is what false religion seeks to do.

Dispensational premillennialism seeks to do just that and as we have covered, the Chapel is a hideous permutation of that system of interpretation. They reject the notion that the Kingdom is the Church and assert that they are the fulfillment of these promises during a future earthly millennial reign.

The reality is, the promised Kingdom began during Christ’s ministry and was inaugurated on Pentacost Day. Later in history God begins to crush and remove stumbling blocks at the feet of the Church.

70 A.D. for instance, with the destruction of the Jewish temple and sacrificial system which was an utter abomination after Christ’s death. Then later in 312 A.D. we have the Edict of Milan with Constantine legalizing Christianity in the Roman empire essentially Christianizing it. Then in 476 A.D. the fall of the Roman empire later… these are all good historic corollaries to the stone striking the image upon the foot.

In our time the “little horn” (who is the Roman Papal power) will attempt to destroy Protestant Christian religion by undermining these false expectations latent within futuristic systems of prophecy. The Jesuits and the Papacy are the creators of futurism for the express purpose of turning the finger of judgment away from Rome.

So what better way to hinder and thwart the kingdom of God’s advance than by telling the elect that they are not a party to the promises of scripture pertaining to them?

And that is exactly what is happening.

In fact, this assault of Rome upon the church becomes so bad and so effective that in the end we see something devastating take place when Satan is released for a short time – but the gates of hell will be turned back… This is called the Occult Millennium or Golden Age of Gaia – the Omega X conspiracy is based upon this.

The Promised Kingdom of Daniel is the Body of Christ, the Church

Let’s go back to this scriptural concept of the church being the promised kingdom. We are told by premillennialists that this is future to us. But what does the New Testament say?

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:” – Colossians 1:13

There is only one Kingdom of Christ, and He reigns right now – that is the millennium. Jesus Christ, seated at the right hand of God upon David’s throne reigning with his saints in heaven and on earth… ruling the nations with a rod of iron. That is NOW!

“But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” – 1st Corinthian 15:23-26

He is reigning now friends. When He returns everything will be finished. Read the text carefully. Christ present reign IS the millennium.

The premillennialist’s will either say that there are two kingdoms or that the promised kingdom is not in effect. They assert that the church and Israel are forever distinct. Murray comes onto the scene with British Israelism and makes his cult the fulfillment of dispensational premillennial error… what a sham!

Resurrection Heresy of the Shepherd’s Chapel

feature2fallmosaic

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” – 1st Corinthians 15:51-52

The resurrection of the just and the unjust is bodily, physical and simulataneous… as Jesus said:

“Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” – John 5:28-29

The Chapel teaches damning heresy regarding the resurrection of believers. They sneak this one in under the radar as they assail the pre-trib rapture doctrine…

As an aside, students often attack me as a pre-tribber. This is an absurd reflex response. I was raised Church of Christ and have NEVER believed in it to this day.

The teaching of a NON-PHYSICAL resurrection of believers is vintage doctrine of devils. Whenever you see someone teaching these things you have a bona fide wolf on your hands.

Murray made his claim to be fame by being the first televangelist to successfully assault the pre-tribulation rapture. It worked well for him, but as we’re about to begin to see he has used this as a method to jam a whole host of false doctrines down his students throats.

In any discussion of the rapture the debate comes back to a correct interpretation of Thessalonians 4:13-17. I will list the passage, explain Murray’s interpretation and then the correct understanding of the passage.

“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.” – 1st Thessalonians 4:13

Paul is going to tell us about the state of the dead, particularly those who are redeemed, and what awaits…

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” – 1st Thessalonians 4:14

Murray is going to assert that those who sleep in Christ receive their spiritual resurrection at death and those who alive at Christ’s coming are to receive a spiritual resurrection at the 7th trumpet.

At the time of death, flesh body goes back to dirt forever, case closed according to the Chapel. The bodily resurrection happens AT the second advent. It is not merely a spiritual resurrection and it includes everyone both the just and unjust.

The resurrection is physical and happens when Jesus Christ comes back at the end of the age…

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep…” – 1st Thessalonians 4:15

Murray unequivocally states: we won’t prevent, or precede them because they are already in heaven in their resurrected spiritual bodies. A subtle lie is taking place here that we need to unwind. This text is saying that WHEN Christ returns the order of the resurrection will be as follows:

1.) The resurrected bodies of the deceased saints will be caught up first, a physical resurrection…

2.) Those who are alive will be caught up soon afterwards at the time when Christ returns…

This is not what Murray is teaches at all. They essentially use this text to cram in a whole host of dangerous false doctrines while at the same time exposing the pre-tribulation doctrine.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:” 1st Thessalonians 4:16

Murray interrupts that the last part of that verse is parenthetical and points back to what he says happens when the believer dies. For him the dead in Christ are RAISED when they die, not when Christ returns. And that their resurrection is merely spiritual.

This whole teaching wreaks of Gnosticism…

The passage is very clear – at the time of Christ’s return, at the last day, the dead in Christ will be resurrected bodily for all to see… THEN those who are alive will be caught up. There’s more…

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” – 1st Thessalonians 4:17

They distort the bible to infinity. Murray asserts that the word “air” means another dimension, or the breath of life. And that the word “clouds” means a throng of people. That simply to say that the believers alive when Jesus comes back won’t meet the Lord in the air or be caught up into clouds but will be translated into a spiritual body/dimension while on earth… and thus begins the Murray’s millennium, which is none other than the Golden Age of Gaia or the antichrist millennium.

In closing: All, just and unjust are resurrected physically at the time of Christ’s return. The order of the resurrection being the dead in Christ first, then those who are alive.

Murray teaches that all believers are spiritually resurrected at death the flesh body being no more than dung never to be considered by God again. Murray teaches that believers who are alive will be raised spiritually to a new plane of existence while here on earth with the air representing a new dimension and the clouds a throng of saints…

If you’re trapped in this cult I beckon you to shake yourself free and pray for God to open your eyes to this deception.
