Yay Bacon! The OT Dietary Laws are not HEALTH LAWS!

“If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations – Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch (referring to things that all perish as they are used) – according to human precepts and teachings? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.” – Colossians 2:20-23

Probably the greatest atrocity that the Chapel ever committed was their theological denial of sausage, bacon and rocky mountain oysters. In fact, many legalistic cults have a vendetta against porkchops and shrimp kabobs. Shame on you Bubba Gump!

Grasp this: the bible is not a health manual. But according to Murray, the meat you eat WILL COMMEND YOU TO GOD! Methinks Murray was overly influenced by Garner Ted…

“This is a basic law—a revelation from God to man about which kinds of flesh will properly digest and assimilate in the human system, and which will not…” – Herbert Armstrong, WWCOG

WRONG! It has absolutely nothing to do with that…

Praise the Lord, New Covenant Christians are not bound to Old Testament ceremonial laws regarding clean and unclean meats – it simply doesn’t apply to us. It has to do with ritual purity as pertaining to the Old Covenant Jews.

“I know and am convinced on the authority of the Lord Jesus that no food, in and of itself, is wrong to eat. But if someone believes it is wrong, then for that person it is wrong.” – Romans 14:14

Murray knowing what the New Testament says about these things appeals to health concerns.

But the OT laws surrounding clean and unclean meats had nothing to with “health concerns”. Neither did God give these stipulations because the Frigidaire had not yet been invented. Not eating the flesh of pigs is no more commendable than not eating the flesh of cows or chickens.

Do you want to be placed under the bondage of OT ceremonial law? If you listen to the Chapel long enough that’s exactly where you will end up, under the law, under the curse.

The same thing happens when he beckons us to observe the Passover and reject Easter. It’s part and parcel with British Israelism I suppose.

But which ones do you want to keep? You pick and chose which OT rituals to keep and reject… when the New Testament is replete with example after example of our freedom from these things. It’s absurd bondage.

“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace” – Galatians 5:4

The Chapel teaches slavery to ceremonial laws concerning ritual purity for Jews under the Old Covenant, it is very bad news…

  1. “Meat commends us not to God: for neither if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse” (1 Corinthians 8:8). It’s funny that people that want to adhere to the OT food laws actually end up breaking this same commandment with their faulty interpretations. For example, if you went to a restaurant and ordered a beef steak, then you would think you are OK. But in reality, you’d have to make sure no one ever had cooked pork, shrimp, lobster or catfish in that restaurant’s grill or stove or any food thereafter would be considered unclean. Only a full Kosher establishment would come close to fulfilling this requirements.

“And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, does fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment [clothes], or skin, or sack [storage container], whatsoever vessel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be cleansed. And every earthen vessel, whereunto any of them falls, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean; and you shall break it. Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which such water comes shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean. And every thing whereupon any part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they shall be broken down: for they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you.”

    Leviticus 11:32–35

The OT dietary laws are advised to keep, although in a faulty manner with the Christian Identity movement to give the followers the impression of purity. I had a SC student quote Isaiah 66:17 to defend their position:

“They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the middle, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, said the LORD.”

Although in the NT we find this following verse:

“Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake: ‘For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.’ If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and you be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. But if any man say unto you, ‘This is offered in sacrifice unto idols,’ eat not for his sake that showed it, and for conscience sake: ‘for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.’”
    1 Corinthians 10:25–28

  2. Eph 1:4–In the Messiah he chose us in love before the creation of the universe to be holy and without defect in his presence.

“His Church” existed before time itself!

Noah was neither Hebrew, Jew nor Christian, yet the “clean” animals, “those GOD appointed for eating and sacifice”, presented themselves for salvation by the fourteens (seven pairs, Genesis 7:2). Though we are no longer condemned by His clear “Teaching”. There is no reason to avoid being special (be ye holy), as He would prefer; no reason to identify with the common, no reason to identify with the apostasy of the Romish influence; no reason to grieve The Spirit with hypocrisy. The Torah (incarnate, John 1:1) was indeed hung in death on the “curse tree”, but it was also raised with NEW life. Now anyone who merely thinks about causing one to eat of the unclean, errs. Should we put the Christ on the cross again, or ourselves. Grow-up in the LORD. I will imitate the Christ to the BEST of my ability–that I may be noticed, and be special, and be holy, and attract others to the hope of my salvation. He never ate pork! There are still 153 fish to save and you have no reference for what constitutes sin without GOD’s Teaching. GOD’s Spirit, moving Isaiah to prophesy in 6:3, of the time just prior to the millennial SABBOTH, of how He hates the pork eaters.
