“And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” – 2nd Peter 2:3
I try to give credit where credit is due. Murray butchers about 95% of the bible with his false teachings but he does in fact correctly expose the erroneous pre-tribulation rapture doctrine.
In the same breath I want to add, so do a lot of other Christians who don’t spread all the garbage that this ministry has.
I get so tired of people accusing me of believing in the pre-tribulation rapture simply because I strike out against the Chapel cult. I have NEVER believed this teaching. I started studying with Murray as a 16 year old and I was raised in a Church of Christ… they definitely don’t teach it!
If anyone has opposed this error it has been me. On the blog I have taken the attack a whole lot further and gone after the fountainhead of all this madness: dispensational premillennialism.
Murray and his foes he attempts to expose are so tangled up in that they cannot see straight. Would you like to be free from that?
Having said that, Murray is very correct, the traditional dispensationalist’s are wrong about where the church will be during the great tribulation…
…but SO WHAT!?
This doesn’t negate all the other false teaching. Especially concerning eschatology the details of which we have covered.
And you know what else? I have seen many other cults refute this pre-tribulation error as well… and many times much more convincingly than the Chapel. Like the Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses and the like. But cults like to play tricks with the truth…
Here’s how it works. Say you have a cult and you’re wanting to convert other potential followers away from their current religious affiliation to yours… what do you do? Cults use truth and lies as a pragmatic form of thought control.
As an intelligent and aspiring cult leader you pick out the biggest weakness in your potential follower’s belief system, in this case the erroneous pre-tribulation rapture doctrine taught as a form of mind control by traditional religionists by many here in the U.S.
Once you have refuted it they begin to fall into doubt and open the door to their new religious authority. Sound cynical? Well, this is exactly how it works. One form of religious thought control exchanged for another.
Murray’s teaching exposing the pre-tribulation rapture is what I like to call a “convertor doctrine”. Once you accept what he has to say is true, you are more apt to accept the other elements of his control religion.
And that’s what it’s all about – using “truth” in a way that extends your influence. And the Chapel’s net effect of exposing the rapture is religious control… they are so fixated on their approach because it works. The rail on the lowest hanging fruit and it has reaped them vast rewards.
Jesus Christ came to set us free from the bondage of man-made religion and all it’s deceptions. Escape from the Chapel’s false authority.
